We made it to the end of the week! I am so excited because I am headed to Seattle for the weekend (first time!). But before I head out, I am training two clients and I have a physical therapy appointment. It’s going to be a busy day!
I started going to physical therapy because…my body hates me. I still have an aching foot (podiatrist appointment booked), my hips are misaligned, and I have a whole host of issues in my back. We are taking steps to fix me up, but it may be awhile.
However, I have found the best total body, low impact, strength workout to help repair and rebuild the muscles I damaged and lost. I learned that it is not always beneficial to completely abstain from exercise, even if you have an injury. You just make your muscles, tendons, and ligaments weaker! Bottom line: find safe exercises to keep you strong.
The only workout that I have found effective is Pyrolates. I have I have been doing Pyrolates at Firebrand Sports three times a week for the past month now and I have seen significant improvement in my overall strength. My entire core and glutes, hamstrings, and quads have seen the most growth. I took a yoga class last night and I could feel a huge difference! I was able to flow with ease.
Before I go on, I do want to mention that I work for Firebrand Sports as a Relationship Manager. I love this fitness studio, they are great, and this workout is honestly the best. Even though I work here, all of my opinions are my own and they never asked me to write a review!
So, what is Pyrolates? Pyrolates is pretty much Pilates on steroids. It is an all-in-one workout that is performed on a Megaformer and it combines flexibility, functional strength, and high-intensity. My heart is racing, I am dripping sweat, and my body is burning after each class. You want to get to the point of muscle failure. This is when your muscles start to shake uncontrollably.
All the exercises are slow and controlled, which makes it that much harder. And your core is being worked for the entire 50 minutes of class. It is honestly the best and most effective core workout I have ever done. And as an endurance athlete it is the greatest workout to stay injury free. It works all the stabilizing muscles. My glutes, which used to be super weak, are getting stronger everyday.
