It’s been a few weeks since I last checked in, so let’s begin by touching on a few life updates.
This must be getting boring, but unfortunately I am still on the mend after my injury and a long, demanding race season last year. I’m trying to find my mojo and that competitive fire I once had. I find joy in racing and training and I want to get back to that eventually. But for right now I have been enjoying a more relaxed approach to workouts. I am not forcing anything and I’m listening to my body. I would say my focus has shifted more to my yoga practice. There has been many long walks, strength, and the occasional trainer ride. I do crave running (hello #runnershigh). Last weekend was nice though, I cruised around on a network of forest preserve paths for two and a half hours on a mountain bike. It was a beautiful day and I was very grateful to have been out there.
Here’s some exciting news…on Monday I took NASM’s CPT exam and I passed! Back in January I began studying to become a certified personal trainer. NASM gives you six months from the time you register to complete the exam, but I began going through the chapters right away, so six months was more than enough time. I wanted to take the test as soon as I felt ready! I was super nervous before hand, especially since you learn right away if you passed or failed. I really did not want to fail because it’s around $200 to retake it! At the moment I am not 100% sure how I will use my certification, but I am exploring my options and I am ready to make this change in my life.
So now we are pretty up to date! I’m currently in the air en route to Houston, TX where I will be catching a flight to San Jose, Costa Rica! I am in full on vacation mode and cannot wait soak up the sun and lay on the beach. I won’t actually arrive at my final destination until 6PM, so long day of traveling, but completely worth it. I will be staying there for a week so I will make sure to update!
I hope you have a beautiful weekend!
