We have been blessed with THE BEST weather today for Easter Sunday. It could not be more perfect, and we needed it. With the worst/coldest winter in Chicago, training was forced inside with only a handful of runs outside, and those runs were bitterly cold. I was running in shorts and a t-shirt today and I was hot! I never thought the day would come.
Let’s back it up. I rose early today to enjoy a quiet morning before going to church with my family. The church service was uplifting and I could feel all the love in the room. After church we stopped by Hansa, a great local coffee shop in Libertyville. I ordered an almond milk latte and savored every sip!
When we arrived at home the Easter Bunny had been there! Hahah Yes, my parents still hide our Easter Baskets and yes, I love it. We are all still kids at heart!
I love the flower and pot/tin that it is in! My mom is so clever and thoughtful! We also took some family photos!
I immediately grabbed a bite to eat and got ready to head out for my long run. I drove down to the Des Plaines River Trail to get in 11 miles. My spirits were high as it was warm and sunny, but that changed 3 miles in…the rest was a struggle. I managed to complete 9.8 miles of running and walking. I don’t know what it was or is. My legs have been feeling very fatigued lately and this could be a sign of over training. Too much too fast? I don’t know. I have one week until my first half marathon and I am trying not to freak. My plan for this week is to take my taper nice and easy. I also have a sports
scheduled for Tuesday. I hope the combination of stretching, massage, and rest will prepare me come Saturday.

- 4/18 – Run: Speed 4 x 400 1 x 800, 30:34 min, 3.74, 8:11 pace
- 4/19 – Worked on my feet 8:30-5
- 4/20 – Run: 1 hr 49 min, 9.8 miles, 11:08 pace Yikes!
