It has been another snowy and cold day in the great suburbs of Chicago! They say it is supposed to get down to -52 on Monday with wind chill! What!? Despite the cold and snow I have been determined to get my workouts in. Yesterday, after waking up at 4:30AM and working a full day, I arrived home around 7PM and while my family started to watch a movie, I hit the mat. It was very tempting to just relax after a long week, but then I thought, what better way to relax than yoga! I rolled out my mat and searched for a class on http://www.doyogawithme.com. I love this site, you can pick the level and length of your class. I decided to do a 1 hr and 20 min intermediate class with Fiji McAlpine titled “Renewing Power in Flow: Full Class.” This class was awesome and worked many areas of my body, I felt strong, stretched, and full of energy once I was done. I followed this yoga session by rolling out my legs with The Stick.
I try to use this four times a week, it really helps loosen my muscles, recover them, and circulate the blood! Warning though, you have to go through pain to receive the pleasure.
This was a great end to my day. Oh! I also started a new book…
So far it has been aright, she sets a plan to make herself happier and sets resolutions month to month. I am in the month of March and she has brought up good points and things you can work on everyday to improve your happiness. I will have an update once I finish it!
Today I woke up feeling so sore and I debated on whether to skip my scheduled run. If it wasn’t for Laura, my best friend’s Mom and gym partner, I do not think I would have went. We went to a local gym that is hosting a program, 30 days for 30 dollars. I am glad I signed up because now I can run indoors when it is FREEZING and swim! I ran a total of 5.5 miles, one mile warm-up, three miles descending, and one mile + cool down. I felt pretty good by the end of it.
For my post-workout meal I hit up a local shop and grabbed an ezekiel english muffin with their freshly ground peanut butter and a mocha with skim milk. It is delicious and I have been obsessed with it!
Yum, yum, yum!
For the rest of my Saturday I watched Michigan State play Indiana and they dominated! I have been so proud of my school lately! Yay! I then got to doing laundry, gutting my room, and taking down my Christmas tree :(. I am so sad that the holidays are over, but it feels great to have gotten so much done around the house. For my late lunch I had half a grapefruit I picked up at the store today, and my favorite, oatmeal with ground flax, chia seeds, and dark chocolate! Filling, healthy, and tasty…the whole package!
It has been a long day. I am capping it off with a movie on Netflix, The Guilt Trip, accompanied by air popped popcorn! Happy Saturday everyone!
